On a warm May day nestled in the heart of New Brunswick, Jena and Brandon tied the knot in one of the most meaningful and joy-filled celebrations I’ve had the honour of photographing. Their wedding on May 24 at Cidery at 51 Acres was the perfect blend of whimsy, sentiment, and soul — a true reflection of their personalities and their love story.

Jena and I met years ago while working together as behaviour therapists for children with autism. We quickly bonded over our shared experiences of living in the United States and our mutual appreciation for whisky — she swears by American whiskey, while I stand firm in my love for Canadian. Though we haven't worked together since 2021, we’ve remained friends, and I’ve had the joy of watching her grow, dream big, and now pursue her goal of becoming a doctor.

Being asked to capture her engagement photos and now her wedding has been an incredible honour and full-circle moment in both of our lives.

Jena and Brandon share a deep love of literature — a theme they beautifully wove throughout their wedding day. From the book-themed décor to a custom bookshelf backdrop that read “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite,” it was clear that stories are the heartbeat of their relationship. Their engagement session even featured their favourite books as props, a nod to the chapters they've already shared and the ones still to come.

Set against the light-filled, Napa Valley-inspired architecture of Cidery at 51 Acres, their ceremony was heartfelt and intimate. Their first look was emotional, followed by private vows exchanged quietly before walking down the aisle — a moment that left them both in happy tears.

The florals, inspired by wildflowers, were soft, romantic, and overflowing with colour, setting a dreamy tone that carried throughout the day.

The celebration continued with a relaxed, laughter-filled reception complete with pastel cupcakes by The Carefree Cakery and a beautiful custom cake made by Jena’s grandmother — a personal touch that added even more meaning to the day.

One of the highlights of the reception? Jena’s choreographed first dance with her father — a hilarious and unforgettable performance set to Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Guests were laughing, cheering, and completely captivated — it was the perfect mix of sweet and bold, just like Jena.
