The Beauty of the Unexpected: Surprise Proposals
Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, I’m passionate about capturing life’s most meaningful milestones for couples across the Maritimes. There’s something incredibly special about the joy and excitement of newly engaged couples, and I’m thrilled to be able to preserve these fleeting moments in photos you’ll treasure for years to come.
Engagements are often a whirlwind of emotions—nervousness, excitement, and pure love—which can make the moment feel like a blur. That’s why I work closely with you to create a detailed plan, including directions on where to stand and which direction to face, ensuring your proposal is captured perfectly. I also offer tailored location suggestions, perfect for those who are new to New Brunswick, visiting on vacation, or just passing through and unfamiliar with the beautiful spots our province and the Maritimes have to offer. Let me help you relive your special moment over and over again.
How It Works:
Your proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I’m here to make sure it’s captured perfectly. We’ll start with a consultation to discuss your vision and preferences, followed by a site visit if needed, where I’ll scout the location for the best spot to pop the question. Afterwards, I will create a detailed plan that includes everything from where you’ll stand to which direction you’ll face, ensuring that every angle is considered. On the day of the proposal, I’ll either discreetly blend into the surroundings or hide in a predetermined spot, ready to capture the magic as it unfolds. After the proposal, I’ll step in to guide you through a mini engagement session, so you leave with a collection of beautiful images to commemorate the day. Whether you’re local, new to the area, or just passing through, I’ll make sure your proposal is a seamless and memorable experience.
Packages:
1. The Hideout
The hideout proposal is exactly what you think - I will hideout somewhere discrete to capture the moment. Before your proposal, I will scout the location to test different locations to see which hiding spot works best and give you a precise spot to stand and face during the question to ensure I capture the moment perfectly. I use a long-range lens to capture the moment from a distance, which adds another level of excitement once I pop out of my hiding spot & your future spouse realizes the entire proposal was captured.
This type of photography is great for couples who are proposing in a public place, such as a park or a beach, and want to keep the moment intimate.

For this type of surprise proposal, I will pretend to be capturing something else until the cue is given and I begin capturing your proposal. This type of photography is great for couples who are proposing in a more private location, such as a restaurant or a hotel, or a location with a lot of people around such as a beach, festival or fair. The goal is to blend into the surroundings so your future spouse doesn't suspect anything.

FAQ
How long until we receive our photos?
You will receive a sneak peek of 8-10 images within 48 hours. The remaining images will take 4-8 weeks, depending on the time of the year.
What time of the day should I plan for?
Golden hour (1 hour before sunset) has the best lighting, plus the added romance of the sunset.
What happens if it rains?
If there is a 40% chance of rain or extreme cold, I recommend rescheduling or relocating to an indoor location.
What happens if we are running late?
If you are less than 15 minutes late, I allow the session time to be extended up to 15 minutes at no cost. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your session will be the remaining time scheduled - with the option to extend it at my hourly rate if I am able to (no other scheduling obligations).
How do I book?
Inquire using the form above. I will check my availability and get back to you within 3 business days.
To secure your proposal session, I require a signed contract and a 50% non-refundable retainer upfront. The remaining balance is due 7 days before your session. If you book less than 7 days in advance, the entire balance is due upfront.
Do you literally hide in the bushes?
Absolutely! If there is a good shrub to hide in, I'll make it work. If not, we can discuss other ways to keep my location discrete or use another method of capturing your surprise proposal.
Do you have any other tips?
You can share your ETA or location with me so I can track in real time where you are/when you will arrive - since communication is difficult in the hours leading up to the surprise proposal. I also suggest having a good "reason" why you are bringing your partner to the location. Bonus tip: If you can get them to dress up/have their nails done, they will likely appreciate it!
Do you capture weddings also?
Yes! I love when surprise proposals lead to capturing your wedding day. Bonus: If you choose me as your wedding photographer, you will receive a 150$ discount on your wedding package.
