Some love stories are built on adventure — and Julia and Devyn’s is one of them.

They made the long drive all the way from Ontario to elope on the East Coast, drawn by the wild beauty of New Brunswick and the iconic view of the Confederation Bridge. When we first started planning, Cape Enrage was at the top of their list. But with the lighthouse closed for the off-season, I suggested an alternative: Cape Jourimain Nature Centre. It’s one of those hidden gems that has everything you could dream of — a lighthouse, ocean views, tall grass swaying in the wind, and that stunning bridge curving across the horizon.

Their elopement day arrived with an unexpected twist — steady rain that lasted the entire day. The forecast promised only a 20% chance during their ceremony, so we decided to take the risk. Bundled in layers, we made the 15-minute walk down the trail to the lighthouse. The wind was cold, about six degrees, and the air was heavy with sea mist, but none of it could dampen their excitement.

Julia and Devyn exchanged their vows on the lighthouse platform, the Confederation Bridge stretching out behind them — a perfect symbol of connection and commitment. The rain softened the landscape, wrapping everything in a gentle, romantic haze.

And just when we thought the day couldn’t surprise us anymore, the sky opened up on our walk back. The clouds lifted, revealing one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen. The entire sky turned shades of pink and orange, reflecting off the back of the bridge and lighting it up like it was glowing from within. It felt like nature was giving them the most beautiful blessing imaginable.

We ended the evening down on the beach, with the bridge in the background and the sky still burning bright. After a day of cold rain it was the most rewarding, breathtaking ending — and a reminder that sometimes, taking the risk is what leads to the magic.
