There’s something incredibly special about being invited to capture each chapter in a couple’s journey—and Ashley and Patrick’s story has become one of those full-circle moments for me.
I first met them last year for their engagement session, followed by their wedding day at the beautiful Whispering Willow. This spring, I photographed their maternity session, and now—just days after their one-year anniversary—they’ve welcomed their sweet son, Kalix, into the world. Born on June 24, Kalix arrived with perfect timing to mark a brand-new beginning for this growing family.
Their session took place in the home they’re temporarily living in while their dream house is being built. It might not be their forever home, but it’s full of warmth, love, and the quiet comfort that makes a space feel like home.
When I arrived, Pat was feeding Kalix, completely settled into his new role as Dad. Watching the way he cradled his son and the ease between the two of them made it clear—this came naturally to him. Both he and Ashley felt like they were made for this.
Kalix was exactly one month old the day of our session, so we took a moment to capture his official “one month” milestone before diving into the rest of the shoot. He slept peacefully for most of it, letting us move slowly and gently around him while documenting this precious stage.
We stepped outside briefly to capture a few sweet moments in the shade, surrounded by greenery, before returning indoors where Ashley rocked Kalix in a chair that’s been passed down through generations of mothers in her family. That simple moment—soft light streaming through the window, her baby tucked in close—was the kind of photograph that speaks volumes. A mother’s love, heritage, and new beginnings all in one frame.
These are the moments that matter—the quiet, in-between ones where love lives in the details.
Ashley and Patrick, thank you for continuing to invite me into your life. It’s been such an honour to witness your story unfold from your engagement to your wedding, and now into parenthood. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for your little family.
