Some sessions carry a little extra meaning, and this one will always be a favourite of mine. Andrea and I first connected a few years ago through Instagram when she invited me to join a photography challenge. The idea was simple but brilliant: multiple photographers editing the same image to showcase how different styles can completely transform a photo. It was such a fun experience, and it led to a wonderful friendship.
Last year, during a trip to Toronto, Andrea captured my branding photos (which I absolutely adored). Since then, we’ve kept in touch, sharing both photography and life updates, and I was so excited when she let me know she and her family would be visiting the East Coast.
We met by the ocean, where the rugged red rocks overlook the water in the most stunning way. Her boys explored, climbed, and skipped stones across the calm surface. They were a little hesitant about the heights at first, but quickly embraced the adventure—showing so much bravery and joy. It was such a beautiful reminder of childhood curiosity and courage.
Photographing Andrea and her family against this backdrop felt like a full-circle moment: two photographers who once connected online, now capturing each other’s stories in completely different provinces. I’m so grateful for this friendship, and even more grateful that I had the honour of preserving these memories for them.
If you’re visiting the East Coast and dream of photos on the rocky shores at golden hour, reach out—I’d love to capture your story here too.
