There are some families whose stories I’ve had the privilege of documenting year after year, and Ashley’s family is one of them. I met Ashley years ago when our children attended the same daycare and quickly became inseparable. Life took us in different directions—different neighbourhoods, new daycares, growing kids, and eventually different schools. But through all those changes, one thing has stayed beautifully consistent: every fall, I capture their family photos.

It has become one of my favourite traditions.

This year, we decided on a new location: the marsh trail with the Moncton skyline resting in the distance. The late-October chill arrived earlier than expected, and the wind coming off the marsh made sure we felt every bit of it. But the sun was shining bright, the golden tones were at their peak, and the boys showed up with their matching outfits as they always do—one of those little details I love about photographing this family each year.

Because of the cold, this session moved quicker than usual. That crisp fall air has a way of encouraging kids (and adults!) to give their best smiles fast, and honestly, it worked in our favour. The boys ran along the boardwalk, played, laughed, and leaned into the joy of the moment. Despite the temperature, the warmth in these images comes through instantly—the soft morning light, the rich autumn colours, and the easy connection they share.

Every year, I’m reminded of how special it is to watch families grow through my lens. To see the boys getting taller, their personalities shining a little more, and the way Ashley and her partner look at them with so much quiet pride. It’s the kind of session that feels like a time capsule—simple, sweet, and full of meaning.

Ashley, thank you again for trusting me with your memories. I adore photographing your family each fall, and I’m already looking forward to seeing what next year brings.
