N & M’s engagement session at Parlee Beach in Shediac, New Brunswick, was nothing short of beautiful. While they’ve chosen to keep images with his face private, the love, joy, and quiet connection between them came through in every detail we captured.
Originally, we had planned their session for the evening, aiming for golden hour light. But with the forecast calling for rain, we made a rare decision to switch to an afternoon session—something I typically avoid due to the harsh midday sun. Thankfully, the skies cooperated and gave us soft, partly cloudy light that was perfect for a beach shoot. It was hot, breezy, and filled with that unmistakable energy that comes with summer days by the ocean.
The beach was bustling, but we managed to find a peaceful corner away from the crowds where they could simply enjoy each other. They walked barefoot in the sand, danced at the edge of the waves, and held hands as the wind played with her dress and hair. Every interaction between them was thoughtful and full of tenderness.
They packed a picnic and brought along a bottle of champagne for a celebratory toast—though the bottle had its own idea of a party and popped a bit too early! With laughter and grace, they shared what was left, toasting to their future while cuddled up on a blanket with the ocean as their backdrop.
These images aren’t just for their memories—they’re also creating a custom photo backdrop for their wedding, which I’ll have the honour of capturing next month. Knowing these photos will play a part in their celebration makes them feel even more meaningful.
