This past weekend, the grounds of Lady Smith Manor were once again transformed into a whimsical, vintage-inspired world of colour, creativity, and community for their 5th Annual Summer Market — and what an unforgettable weekend it was.
I’ve had the joy of capturing memories at Lady Smith Manor for the past four years, documenting everything from intimate family sessions and seasonal events to their cozy Winter Market. Each visit is special, but this year's Greatest Showman-inspired Summer Market felt especially magical.
Nestled in the heart of Dorchester, New Brunswick, Lady Smith Manor is a beautifully restored Georgian Manor built in the 1800s — and one of Canada’s recognized historic places. Its timeless charm and lush surroundings set the perfect stage for a summer celebration that beautifully blends old-world elegance with modern, community-driven charm.
This year’s theme brought the circus to the countryside in the most elegant way. Scarlet draping, vintage décor, and carnival-inspired signage welcomed guests into a space where imagination took centre stage. From the whimsical photo booth complete with a "lion" in a red velvet cage, to circus games and an exciting Big Top Scavenger Hunt — every corner was carefully designed to delight.
The market featured a carefully curated selection of local artisans and vendors, offering everything from handcrafted leather goods, embroidery, fiber art, pottery, and jewelry to natural bath products, homewares, and fresh florals. The creativity and passion behind each table were evident, and it was a joy to document the talent that exists right here in our province.
After photographing the event, I brought my daughters to enjoy the festivities — and they were fully immersed in the magic. They had their faces painted, giggled their way through cotton candy, and took in the sights and sounds of the market with wide eyes and sticky fingers. My husband and I tucked away into the little pub for a shared beer while the girls enjoyed cookies from one of the local bakers — a perfect family afternoon wrapped in sunshine and smiles.
Inside the manor, the historic rooms came to life with even more vendors and vintage displays. Music floated through the air as live performers took the porch stage, adding a warm, nostalgic soundtrack to the weekend. Every detail was intentionally created, every space filled with joy and connection.
Lady Smith Manor continues to be a space that honours its history while making room for community and creativity to thrive. It’s always such a pleasure to capture these moments and to witness how much love and heart goes into bringing these events to life.
If you haven’t been to the Manor yet — whether for a market, a session, or a simple stroll — consider this your sign.
