Late August weddings always have a special kind of magic, and Nick and Moira's day at Pomquet Beach was no exception. With the sun shining bright and a gentle breeze off the water, it was the kind of day every couple hopes for—not too hot, not too cold, and full of warmth in all the right ways.
Their celebration began in the cozy, rustic cabins nestled near the beach, where they were surrounded by their closest family and friends—including their sweet baby boy. Moira got ready in one cabin with the women, while Nick spent time with the guys in another. There was laughter, love, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes photographing mornings like these so special.
One of the most beautiful moments of the day was their first look. Nick waited patiently in a shaded spot overlooking the water, and when Moira tapped him on the shoulder, their faces lit up with joy. It was a moment full of emotion—happy tears, wide smiles, and the kind of quiet connection that makes you feel like you're witnessing something truly sacred.
Their ceremony took place in a beautiful A-frame wooden venue with soaring floor-to-ceiling windows at the front and warm wooden slats lining the rest of the space. The décor was simple and elegant, with soft blue accents woven throughout—reflecting their wedding colour. At the front stood a handcrafted wooden arbour, lovingly built by Moira's father, adorned with lush greenery and delicate blue flowers.
The ceremony was sweet and personal, exactly how Nick and Moira envisioned it. Moira’s father walked her down the aisle, and as they exchanged heartfelt vows, their little one made the most adorable cooing sounds, drawing smiles and laughter from the guests. After their first kiss, they walked down the aisle together—now as a family of three—with their son in their arms. It was a beautiful, emotional exit that felt straight out of a storybook.
Following family and wedding party portraits, we made our way to the beach—something Moira had always dreamed of for her wedding photos. With the sun high in the sky, they walked hand in hand along the shoreline, completely at ease with one another. They were naturals in front of the camera, lost in each other and completely unafraid to show it. It made my job easy—just capturing that effortless connection while gently guiding when needed.
Back at the venue, guests helped “flip” the space for the reception. The wooden arbour now held a sign that read “The Ehlers” to celebrate Moira’s new last name. Beside the head table, another of her father’s handmade touches stole the show: a charming ice cream stand complete with a blue and white striped parasol, perfectly tying in with the wedding’s colour palette. At the back of the room, an iced coffee bar was a guest favourite, offering the perfect pick-me-up for a warm summer evening.
After dinner, we stepped outside for a few golden hour portraits as the sun peeked through the trees. It was a quiet, intimate time for Nick and Moira to take a breath, reflect on their day, and just be together. With the light wrapping around them like a warm hug, I captured some of my favourite portraits of the day.
They returned inside to heartfelt speeches, lots of laughter, and a night full of dancing and celebration. Nick and Moira’s wedding was not just beautiful—it was full of heart, family, and the kind of love that radiates through every photo. It was such an honour to be part of their day and to capture the story of their beginning as husband and wife.
