One of the first questions my couples ask after booking their engagement session is "where should we go for our photos?"

The good news? The Moncton area is full of incredible locations, whether you're dreaming of a romantic beach sunset, colourful flower fields, dramatic coastal cliffs, or somewhere that simply feels like you.

The best engagement sessions aren't necessarily about choosing the prettiest location—they're about choosing a place that reflects your relationship. Here are some of my favourite engagement photo locations near Moncton.

1. Castle Manor

If you're looking for timeless elegance and a touch of European charm without leaving New Brunswick, Castle Manor is one of the most unique locations in the province.

The historic Castle Manor is a four-story Gothic Revival castle built between 1906 and 1908. Located at the corner of Archibald Street and Mountain Road in Moncton, it has been designated as a Local Historic Place thanks to its remarkable architecture and preservation.

Its stone exterior, grand entrance, mature trees, and historic character create an elegant backdrop that's perfect for couples wanting a romantic, editorial feel.

Best for:

  • Elegant and timeless portraits
  • Formal attire
  • Romantic, European-inspired imagery

2. Beaches & Coastal Cliffs

Nothing says East Coast romance quite like the ocean.

Whether it's the warm sand beneath your feet or the dramatic views from coastal cliffs, beach engagement sessions offer some of the most beautiful sunsets in New Brunswick.

Some of my favourite spots include:

  • Parlee Beach
  • Aboiteau Beach
  • Murray Corner

If you're after something a little more adventurous, the nearby coastal cliffs offer incredible views, rugged landscapes, and a completely different feel from a traditional beach session.

Best for:

  • Sunset sessions
  • Barefoot walks
  • Windy, candid moments
  • Couples who love the outdoors

3. Nature Parks

You don't have to travel far to find beautiful greenery.

Moncton has several parks that offer forests, walking trails, bridges, open fields, and beautiful natural light throughout the year.

Some favourites include:

  • Centennial Park
  • Irishtown Nature Park
  • Mapleton Park
  • Mill Creek Nature Park

These locations are especially beautiful during spring, summer, and fall and work well for couples wanting a relaxed, natural setting.

Best for:

  • Casual outfits
  • Fall colours
  • Forest trails
  • Nature lovers

4. Seasonal Flower Fields

If your engagement session falls at the right time of year, flower fields create some of the most magical backdrops imaginable.

Depending on the season, you might find:

  • Lupin fields
  • Cherry blossoms
  • Lavender fields
  • Sunflower fields

These blooms only last for a short time each year, making them extra special. If flowers are part of your vision, we'll plan your session around when they're at their best.

Best for:

  • Soft, romantic imagery
  • Spring and summer sessions
  • Bright, colourful photos

5. Your Favourite Brewery, Winery, or Distillery

Sometimes the most meaningful location is somewhere you already love spending time together.

If your first date was at a brewery or you regularly enjoy date nights over a craft beer or glass of wine, why not incorporate that into your engagement session?

Some local favourites include:

  • Tire Shack Brewing Co.
  • Crooked River Distillery
  • Crow & Vine

These venues offer beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces while also telling part of your story as a couple.

Best for:

  • Cozy date-night vibes
  • Personality-filled photos
  • Couples who love craft beer, wine, or cocktails

6. Irving Arboretum or the Bouctouche Dunes

If you're willing to venture just a little outside Moncton, both of these locations are absolutely worth considering.

Irving Arboretum

Located on the banks of the Black River, the Irving Arboretum is a beautiful public botanical garden filled with trees, flowers, and wildlife. The trail system is easy to walk and suitable for all ages, making it an excellent choice for couples wanting a peaceful setting surrounded by nature. The gardens are perfect for leisurely walks, bird watching, picnics, and beautiful engagement portraits.

Bouctouche Dunes & Boardwalk

The Bouctouche Dunes offer one of the most iconic coastal landscapes in New Brunswick. The long wooden boardwalk winds through protected dunes before opening up to endless sandy beaches and ocean views. It combines the beauty of the coastline with unique textures that photograph beautifully in every season.

Both locations are ideal if you're looking for a little adventure while keeping your session relaxed.

Your Engagement Session Doesn't Have to Be About a Location

Some of my favourite engagement sessions haven't been at a landmark at all.

Instead, they focused on what the couple genuinely enjoys doing together.

Think about activities that are part of your relationship:

  • Bowling
  • Having a picnic
  • Playing board games
  • Going out for ice cream
  • Riding bikes
  • Canoeing or kayaking
  • Walking your dog
  • Visiting your favourite coffee shop
  • Cooking dinner together
  • Browsing a local bookstore

These sessions often feel the most authentic because they're centered around your real relationship—not just a beautiful backdrop.

The Best Location Is One That Feels Like You

At the end of the day, the most important part of your engagement session isn't the location—it's the connection between the two of you.

Whether we're exploring the beach at sunset, wandering through a flower field, enjoying a local brewery, or simply recreating your favourite date night, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel genuine, relaxed, and uniquely yours.

If you're planning your engagement session and aren't sure where to go, don't worry. I'll help you choose the perfect location based on your personalities, the season, and the overall feel you're hoping to achieve.

I can't wait to help tell your story.
